The good stuff

It does what it says on the tin - I got a push notification when someone rang the doorbell, and I could actually see the video feed in real time. That part worked. The audio was clear enough to hear the delivery guy say “package here,” which was nice. And the interface is simple, which is good if you’re just starting out with home monitoring. It’s not flashy, but it doesn’t crash every other time I open it either. For that, I’ll give it a pass.

The not-so-good

But then came the issues. Notifications were delayed by 10 seconds or more - sometimes I’d already walked away from the phone before it popped up. And when I tried to talk back through the app, there was a lag that made it feel like I was shouting into a tunnel. The video quality wasn’t great either - blurry, especially at night. I’ve used Ring and Google Nest, and this feels like a step down in almost every way. Also, the subscription plans start at $3.99 a month, which seems steep for something that barely works. And no idea who the developer is? That’s weird. I wouldn’t trust my home security to something with zero transparency.

Bottom line

If you’re looking for a no-frills way to monitor your front door on iPhone, Aiwit for iPhone might technically do the job - but it’s not reliable enough to recommend. The user rating of 2.0/10 isn’t a fluke. Skip it unless you’re desperate and have nothing else. There are better options out there, even free ones. Save yourself the frustration and go with something more proven. This one’s not worth the download.
