You can grab a component, drop it in, tweak it, and boom - you’ve got UI that doesn’t look like it was slapped together in 2010.

The not-so-good

It’s not magic. If you’re not comfortable with web fundamentals, this won’t save you. There’s no hand-holding for beginners. Also, while it supports React and Vue, it’s still most tightly integrated with Angular - which might be a pain if you’re avoiding that framework. And let’s be honest, some of the styling feels a bit “default” unless you dig into custom themes. I had to tweak the CSS variables to make it feel less generic. Oh, and the Windows app installer? Not super intuitive. Took me two tries to get it to install properly. Plus, if you want native features like camera access or push notifications, you’ll need Cordova or Capacitor - which adds another layer of setup.

Bottom line

If you’re building mobile or web apps and already know web dev, Ionic - Download for Windows is worth the time. It’s free, works well across platforms, and cuts down on redundant code. Skip it if you’re starting from zero or don’t want to deal with any JS. But if you’re past the basics and just want to ship something fast, it’s a solid pick.
