The good stuff

It’s light on resources, which is nice if you’re running a heavy project. The interface is simple-just a few knobs and a clean display-so I didn’t waste time figuring out what everything did. I used it once to smooth out a vocal track that was too harsh on the upper mids, and the high-shelf filter helped tame it without sounding muddy. It also has a nice sweepable band-pass filter that’s useful for isolating specific frequencies, like pulling out a hum or resonance. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done when you need something quick and quiet in your chain.

The not-so-good

And here’s the thing-there’s barely any feedback. No visual metering, no frequency graph, nothing showing what you’re actually changing. You just twist knobs and hope it sounds better. That’s fine if you’re experienced, but I kept second-guessing myself. Also, no presets. Not even one. If you want to reuse a setting, you have to manually write down the values. And it’s not even clear if it supports VST2 or only standalone. After a few tries, I gave up trying to integrate it into my main workflow. It’s also missing basic things like bypass switches or sidechain inputs. This isn’t a pro tool by any stretch, and if you’re serious about audio, you’ll probably want something with more polish.

Bottom line

If you’re tinkering with audio casually, don’t mind a barebones interface, and just need a few filters for quick fixes, Tone2 FilterBank3 - Download for Windows might be worth the 10 seconds it takes to install. But if you’re doing anything serious or want proper control, skip it. It’s free, sure, but there are better free options out there-like the built-in EQs in Reaper or Audacity. Don’t waste your time unless you’re bored and looking for something quirky to play with.
